5 Religious Deconstruction Mistakes You Might Be Making
Thinking back on my own deconstruction from in 2022, I can say with full confidence that it was one of the most emotionally difficult events of my life. While fundamentalist Christian pastors harp from behind their pulpits of the dangers of following the deconstruction “trend,” we who have been through it know there isn’t anything trendy about your entire worldview and belief system falling apart. I personally would not wish this kind of inner turmoil on my worst enemy.
That being said, I don’t regret anything about my deconstruction journey. Healing from the emotional wounds left by a high control group and reconstructing beliefs is a trial and error process, and I have been immensely happy observing the personal growth in myself over the past two years. However, there were a few mistakes I made along the way that I now recognize inhibited my healing journey that you may be making too if you are also deconstructing religion — especially a high control religion.
