Our Household Screentime Addiction is Gone
If there was such a thing as a rehab center for screentime to exist in 2024 there’s a good chance it would be a nationwide franchise in all 50 states.
Could you be honest with yourself and say that you, are addicted? Would you be able to walk through the door, heart on your sleeve phone in your hand and rid yourself once and for all of this horrible new age plague?
Well, to say the least, we all need an honest look in the mirror about how much we’re attached to our handhelds. Before I admitted to myself how bad my addiction had gotten, my iPhone would give me subtle yet harrowing reminders that I was averaging about 18 hours per day. Yikes! I don’t know about you but that was one more thing about myself that I could have gone without knowing.
Breaking down the hours of the day
Here’s the truth of the matter. On average people spend almost 7 hours a day on screens. Research has shown that that time has increased by more than a half hour since 2013. Naturally we have to account for time spent working, using GPS or delivery apps, however if this time is being spent on entertainment there is a smarter way to approach it.
We gravitate to our screens for a hit of serotonin in most cases. A simple distraction. The distraction can last minutes up to hours…
