Procrastination is a common behavior where individuals delay or postpone tasks or activities, often opting for more immediate and less important ones. It can be caused by a combination of psychological, emotional, and cognitive factors. Here are some reasons why people procrastinate:

  • Lack of Motivation: When a task seems daunting or lacks personal meaning, people tend to put it off in favor of more enjoyable activities. And we all do this, it’s normal.
  • Perfectionism: Some individuals fear that their work won’t meet their own high standards or the expectations of others, leading them to delay starting the task. Again, it happens to the best of us.
  • Task Difficulty: Complex or challenging tasks can trigger avoidance behavior as people find them overwhelming or unclear on how to approach them. My grandma always says, “how do you eat an elephant?” The answer: One bite at a time. Take it in bite-sized pieces.
