Troll, meet juggernaut

Over the last 24 hours, I’ve had a troll raging at me. I ended up blocking him so his posts on my most recent article have vanished.

I feel quite sorry for him but after three polite replies on my part, I’d had enough and pressed that block button.

It started with excoriating me for telling fairy tales (on the How we’ll live in the 2060’s article), and that my thoughts were so beyond the pale that I would be unemployable in any job and that I would be disqualified from any office (not that I have any interest in either, I’m content enough as a self employed gardener).

I tried arguing my point, politely, and he basically expanded on his previous post by calling me a flat earther. I tried again, telling him what he needed to read about, who he should be reading here on Medium, telling him that it was important that he understood the predicament humanity was in if he were to have any chance of preparing for it.

He responded with aggressive mocking, an ad hominem tirade, that made me decide he was unreachable.

He might come to understand one day, but his semi-literate ranting in the last post, scattered with emojis, mostly laughter, made me reach the point of giving up.
