Christmas Is Loss: A Holiday Harpoon with the Ghost of Christmas Future (Part 3)
Confronting holiday sadness and anger by telling our story.
Many of us fall into a trap every holiday season. We may not know how or why, but the result always ends up finding us over-emotional, angry, stressed, sad, and feeling like we’re at the end of our rope.
This holiday harpoon that grabs at us and pulls us in with a barbed spike is a standard holiday tradition amongst many people.
I spoke of this idea first in my article The Holiday Self, and then continued it by telling my story of my own Holiday Harpoons, first in Part One: Christmas is Canceled (The Ghost of Christmas Past), and then in Part Two: Christmas is a Label (The Ghost of Christmas Present.)
This article is the last of the series, in which we spend time with one of the hardest elements of holiday pain: facing grief and loss again and again, now and throughout our unknown future.
