Growing up I never really found a bond outside of the bottom with my siblings and the dog that we had. So as an adult one thing that helps me with my mental health was taking an animals and I didn’t have to commit to long time, but I can heal and find good homes.

After the first dog that I rescued, her name was Persephone, I realize that I was in capable of sharing for a dog or cat long car and it was unfair to commit to anything, but I knew potentially tomorrow if I was homeless again.

Being around animals gave my life meaning. Saving them gave me a reason to live. I grew up caring for everyone else. As an adult I struggled because the only way I knew how to care for myself was to care for others.

The first few years I tried working for an animal shelter, volunteering for the Humane Society and a few other rescues . The small town I’m from was riddled with drama and it was incredibly stressful. People were more worried about their image and retaliated vindictively over simple things. Things like another rescue getting a good donation but not being able to share. I volunteered for other organizations and found that the drama of those organizations could be avoided by…
