The State of Georgia Just Took a Massive Step Back
Lawmakers found another way of screwing the citizens of Georgia
Countless Georgians have found relief from THC. Many, including myself, have found that it provides pain relief, reduces seizures and spasms, helps those who experience nausea while on chemotherapy, slows the progression of cancer cells, and helps with brain health.
The Hemp Production and the 2018 Farm Bill removed hemp and derivatives of cannabis with a low THC percentage (under 0.3%) from the definition of marijuana in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). This allowed businesses to sell THCA, which is a naturally occurring cannabinoid in hemp and cannabis (Cannabis sativa) plants.
According to article, THCA is:
The acidic “precursor” to THC and exists primarily in young, freshly harvested cultivars. THCA is non-psychoactive until it converts to THC through non-enzymatic reactions when exposed to heat. Known as decarboxylation, this process activates cannabis’ psychoactive properties.
In other words, once you take the THCA flower and burn it, it becomes THC. The article goes on to say:
When THCA converts to THC, it loses that extra group and becomes the intoxicating compound consumers know and love.
