A Look At “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders” Through the Eyes of a Former Cheerleader
It was more addictive and more vile than I thought
As a longtime fan of “DCC — Making the Team”, I was excited to see that a Netflix series was made about the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.
Let me state up front that I was never a professional cheerleader. I cheered in middle and high school. To make the squad when I was cheering, you needed years of dance and acrobatic experience to set yourself apart and to be able to learn the choreography.
I started dance and acrobatics when I was a mere 3 years old. I loved it, and eventually went into competitive dance, which I did pretty darn good at. When I was 10 years old, I won second place for the first dance solo I ever did. I was also a part of dance teams that one a lot of first place awards, and we even went to nationals one year.
I started to cheer in 8th grade, and had a lot of fun with that too. Below is a pic of yours truly. The photo was taken by one of my parents. (Forgive the blurriness — it’s a picture of a photo from the 90's.) I’m on the far left.
