Act As If Nothing Affects You

A Story of Quiet Strength

3 min readMay 14, 2025

Once, in a small town between mountains and mist, lived a young woman. Her name was Miara.

From a distance, she seemed impenetrable — always calm, always composed.

People, including me, often said, “Nothing ever seems to shake her.”

But what they didn’t know was that Miara carried storms inside her, just like anyone else.

Miara had learned early that the world rewards those who present well, even if their truths are tangled beneath the surface.

As a child, when she cried too loudly or laughed too freely, she was told to tone it down.

So, she decided to wear a mask — to survive. Not to deceive the world around her.

It wasn’t a lie; it was a necessary adaptation.

Over time, that mask became her way of moving through life: poised, in control, and unbothered.

But behind her steady eyes lived questions, fears, and memories that throbbed like quiet drums.

She didn’t ignore them; she contained them.

To the world, she acted as if nothing affected her — not because she felt nothing, but because she chose to master her responses.
