My Top 3 Best Classic Action Novels

3 min readFeb 5, 2024

Are you tired of slow paced psychological classic novels that are always trying to mean something that you don’t understand? Looking for something light and easy while you take a break from the tiresome act of making your way through ‘War and Peace’? Here are three of my favorite action novels that you may enjoy! (no particular order)

  1. ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ by Jules Verne

This fast paced classic was written by the French novelist Jules Verne from 1869–1870, and still holds up to this day. It tells the story of a ‘monster’ that is terrorizing the oceans by destroying ships and killing anyone who is on board. When a French scientist and his assistant join a mission to find and kill the beast, they meet Ted Land, a Canadian harpoonist, and together become stranded in the ocean after their vessle gets destroyed. They make a surprising discovery whilst at sea, and become rescued by a machine, a submarine, and here we get introduced to one of the best characters in all of literature, Captain Nemo. The rest of the book deals with exciting adventures and imaginative scenes from all around the world. Rereading to this day still embarks you on that submarine named The Nautilus, and will make you remember some thrilling action sequences for years to come.

2. ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ by Alexander Dumas

Good day, may you know me as Elijah, I am a writer who usually deals with art and historical subjects, but also enjoys exploring psychology and philosophy.
