Last Night a Neti Pot saved my life.
Invasion of the Mucus
I’ve owned Neti Pot for, I’m ashamed to say, years before using it to save my life.
You see, I was dying. I could not breathe through my nose.
Then I got hungry. And while attempting to savor food I could barely taste, I realized a decision must be made. Do I want to continue eating? Or do I want to live? Simultaneously eating and breathing was not an option.
Sidebar: The saying goes, “Feed a fever, Starve a cold.”
Every time I get sick, I ponder the correct version of that old proverb. Is it, “Feed a fever and starve a cold”, or “Feed a cold and starve a fever”? I’m ruminating this as I chew, breathe, chew, breathe. And when my meal is done, I feel like sh*t. At that point, I remind myself that the truth lies in starving a cold. Because when you’re sick, your body is already thrown off. It’s trying to fight off a virus, infection, or whatever your ailment may be. Add digestion to the mix, and there’s nothing left. You feel worse. I did. I was mad at myself for not remembering, and I almost died.
