How I made my first $0.01 on Medium
True Story! 😅
So, truth be told, I’m not a great writer. I’m a photographer who loves sharing my stories, experiences, and tips with others. I focus more on the art and the craft than the perfect written word. That being put out there, I’ve dabbled in building websites, writing blogs, and even putting together a photography magazine for a short few months.
I find it enjoyable to express myself while sharing interesting photography and personal thoughts on my work and others. Monetizing these thoughts is only a bonus. Bringing these thoughts to Medium seemed like a great idea! Even if I don’t earn a great amount, I’m happy to simply connect with others in a similar space, share a few thoughts here and there, as well as learn a few things from other writers on the platform.
I did go through the course of monetizing my posts and using the paywall to start earning. For the month of May, I was surprised to see a whole $0.01 deposited to my account from Medium! My article on AI ruining photography earned me a whole penny. Mind you it was the first article I published in a while, and I published it on May 29th.
