Life Is Two Days, And One Is Already Gone
There’s this saying in Portuguese — “A vida são dois dias” — life is two days. And honestly? It sounds dramatic, but it’s real. Life is short. Way shorter than we like to admit. And the follow-up hits even harder: “and one is already gone.”
We don’t talk about it much, but it’s time we stop being delulu about it — yeah, we’re all going to die one day. That’s not meant to scare you, it’s meant to wake you up. We walk around acting like we have forever, putting things off, waiting for the “right moment,” keeping our feelings to ourselves, scrolling through life instead of living it.
But time doesn’t wait. And if we’re not careful, we blink and half of it’s gone.
So what are we doing with the time we do have? Are we really living? Or just existing?
We need to get outside more. Feel the sun on our skin. Talk to strangers and laugh with friends until our faces hurt. Say what we mean, even if our voice shakes. Hug people tighter. Tell the ones we love that we love them — loudly, and often. Take that trip. Go to that concert. Dance badly. Cry when we need to. See the beauty in the ordinary. In the trees. In music. In people’s weird little quirks.
Life isn’t meant to be perfect — it’s meant to be felt. Fully. All of it. The highs, the lows, the boring in-betweens.
So yeah, life is two days. And since one’s already gone, we better make damn sure we show up for the one that’s left.
