Cycle of Healing

A Teach Me Tuesday Sestina

Settled pit collecting fallen rain
cloaking an unsteady heart; heavy
upon a decimated mind. Dark
memories curtained by false sunshine
even after eyes have grown clouded
by a faulty sense of renewal.

A clear mind breeds hopeful renewal
even when shadows bring misty rain
and the world appears shrouded, clouded
by painful portraits hanging heavy,
sepia-tinged walls lacking sunshine
able to obliterate the dark.

Therefore, be not afraid of the dark
for it brings a time of renewal
in anticipation of sunshine
peeking through sheets of torrential rain
washing away blockades, the heavy
burdens dissipating with the clouds.

Find courage in the protective clouds;
release the nightmarish fear of dark;
acknowledge emotions are heavy;
afford opportune renewals
that overshadow the tears like rain
glistening in the summer sunshine
