An Intriguing Study on the Ability of Artificial Intelligence to Detect Our Hidden Emotions
An advanced AI model can now discern between several emotions, including joy, anger, sadness, disgust, and fear.
Artificial intelligence has penetrated our daily lives through the widest of avenues, outperforming its conventional job in data processing. AI has become an essential component of our daily interactions, thanks to its integration into our phones and devices, as well as the availability of programs such as ChatGPT and Gemini for creating texts and visual elements. It helps to shape our way of thinking, working, and social lives.
With this increased penetration, researchers are asking an essential question: Can artificial intelligence, which is based on data and analysis, discern the hidden emotions in the texts we write online?
To answer this question, researchers from the University of Auckland in New Zealand undertook a new study to investigate AI’s ability to grasp complex human emotions from online messages. The researchers used the social networking platform X as a model to examine how the emotions exhibited in posts are related to people’s real-world decisions, such as whether to donate to charity organizations.
