When Love Grows Thorns

Asha
1 min readOct 14, 2024

I hate hugging you —

Cuz that’s when every thing feels ok.

Then like a kid on snow days my heart comes out to play & there’s no where else I wanna be.

You make me wish you’d never leave

So I hold on even tighter cuz this love makes me feel lighter —

But now I hate the sunrise.

& I hate the morning sky that reflects the tears in my eyes, reminding me, I have to say goodbye to my beautiful moonlit lie.

The one where I tell myself that I was moments away from falling in love & that you’ll always be here when push comes to shove,

But all good things come to an end — like every gentle embrace between so called friends.

So don’t ask me to hug you anymore when you know I can’t decline…& that my heart wont stop dreaming, of you being mine.
