How Our Capitalistic Society Is Ruining Astrology
I’ve had this article title sitting in my backlog for a while. It seemed like a strong statement to make, and my arguments never felt formed enough.
In a way, the statement even felt wrong to make. I am an astrologer after all and I’m incredibly grateful to be able to sustain myself financially with this practice.
However, I started seeing a shift in the astrological offerings to group classes, rising prices, and readings centered on achieving financial success. With all of them the effect of capitalism began to be felt.
While I do not condone any astrologer for trying to earn money, there are some inherent differences between capitalism and astrology that makes them incompatible.
For example, capitalism asks for infinite growth.
For many astrologers the way to achieve that is by reaching more people, and because they cannot increase the amount of hours they have in the day, many have shifted to offering group classes, workshops, or webinars.
However astrology is personal.
I noticed this myself when talking about astrology at a group event. How do I structure this in such a way that each participant takes something with them, without diving into any of their charts? It seemed…
