I Must Depart

A Pantoum

Things fall apart;
the center cannot hold,
and I must depart
with breathing uncontrolled

The center cannot hold.
Sweat drips down my torso
as my breathing goes uncontrolled.
Please, know I fought so.

Sweat drips down my torso
as I find myself on the bathroom floor.
Please, know I fought so;
I cannot do this anymore.

I find myself on the bathroom floor,
hands shaking and tears streaming.
“I cannot do this anymore,”
I am screaming.

Hands shaking and tears streaming,
the center cannot hold.
I am screaming
with breathing uncontrolled.
