Have you ever been called a “perfectionist”? As a complement, like, “You really excel in your chosen field”? Or as an insult: “Your crippling anxiety and low self-esteem are scary and off-putting”? If you’re a perfectionist in the bad way, this negative personality trait probably extends to every aspect of your life. You know that there’s no such thing as perfect, but it’s hard to give up habits and attitudes that you’ve been living with your entire life.
The good news is the older you get, the less you tend to give a shit about what other people think. Here are 5 silly things you learned in school or from social media that you can finally stop worrying about perfecting:
1. Penmanship
So, your parents are begging you to write your grandparents a thank you note. You’re avoiding the chore out of fear of your own handwriting, which has gotten progressively uglier since you graduated from high school. Google a greeting card website, pick a pretty template, and type up that stupid card.
