A Lovely Past-Time

No, this isn’t necessarily a date-idea sort of post. It’s just sharing what I and the one I love will often do, with time and weather permitting of course.

Maybe some folks just have different ideas when it comes to dates or fun time together; some might like a crowded park, or a meal out, or to go to the cinema, or to attend a bar or concert together. I cannot ever relate to feeling like doing any of those things. We’re both introverts after all; people and too much noise tires us out.

So, sometimes what we like to do is walk the break-water near our home; the sea and coast isn’t too far. But if that’s too crowded, usually we’ll walk within a couple local graveyards.

And no, not to be morbid or creepy or get our Halloween spirit on way too early…but only because graveyards are never crowded; it is quiet and peaceful…and also for the curious sense (at least in my case) that life, death, and history aren’t so far away from one another. Sometimes it’s odd to think that folks were here two hundred or three hundred years ago, and the only way we can know that is witnessing where they are laid to rest.

In my area, for example, there are many many Veterans buried in various sites. Some folk who lived through decades of war, only to pass away either fairly young or very, very old. A lot of folk are buried who died during the beginning years…
