Want to get dinner?

Let’s say we’ll go to a hole in the wall kebab place (my favorite!!!) for $16/person, not including tax. That’s about $40 out the door (with no mango lassies or tips included).

Upgrade to a more ‘date night’ restaurant at $25/pp + tax and that’s maybe $70.

We’ve just crossed the $100+ threshold for the night. Don’t get me started on adding on something like a movie or a concert.

How many date nights a month can you afford? Staying in is looking pretty good at this point — but not a way to keep winning over your significant other.

Pleasant weather creates a lot more options: picnic, walks, winery. Poor weather can revert to more traditional options like dinner and a movie.

When it was 2020 and we had a newborn, our sitter offered to wear a mask. My wife and I did a drive through and ate burgers in the car. Honestly we were thankful to just get out and go somewhere else, albeit with a dystopian reminder of a view from the shopping center parking lot.
