- You are no longer your emotions. There have been many times when I didn’t want to experience an emotion such as sadness or fear, for fear of generalizing the emotion and turning it into a latent feeling. Being depressed because I’m often sad. Being overly anxious because you’re often afraid. The mood tracker highlights the ephemerality of emotion.
- You learn that life isn’t just black and white but a palette of colors that reflects your emotions. You discover tolerance towards yourself and learn to take a step back. You’ll also see more clearly whether or not you’re happy in your life.
- Indirectly, you carry out a daily assessment with yourself. This allows you to look back on the day and see it objectively. In this way, you can distance yourself from what you’ve been feeling, and better deal with the situations you find yourself in.
- You can visualize your progress on a regular basis. If, like me, you experience anxiety on a regular basis and go to therapy to deal with it, tracking your mood will enable you to monitor your progress. It works against perfectionism. It’s a real motivational support, and acts as a catalyst for change.
