A Transphobic Republican Mayor Just Lost an Election to a Democrat

I was told Dems needed to compromise on trans rights.

Ok, so the Mayor of Omaha, Nebraska, Jean Stothert, .

She had served since 2013, that’s 3 terms.

And let’s be clear here, she had a transphobic campaign.

had sent out a number of transphobic ads, one said “Ewing stands with radicals who want to allow boys in girls’ sports.”

While , when she was asked about them in a radio interview she said Ewing ‘supports groups that support men and girls’ sports and men and girls’ bathrooms’ like it was some sort of accusation.

Recently a the Bulwark said Dems need to be willing to abandon interest groups

“the groups” are self-serving; that as the midterms inch closer, the party will inevitably have to make hard tradeoffs if it wishes to deliver meaningful wins.

This can be any number of minorities but this specific article made sure to bring up Newsom’s abandonment of trans sports in his podcast.

If ‘the groups’ are such a vulnerability, why didn’t Ewing lose this race?
