An Accidental Pilgrimage

Taken on my phone.

I would never have dreamt all those years ago that I would sit in this position. I wrestle daily with imposter syndrome. The inner voice that tells me to go away, I have no right, I don't belong.

But I am, and it is a privilege.

I get to navigate the unpredictable. I get to celebrate the moments of pure joy. I get to sit in silence with the brokenhearted.

I wanted to be in the army, I wanted to play rugby. Life took me on a very different course and now at the age of 44 I am a pastor.

I’ve followed Jesus for the last 18 years, it's been an adventure, to say the least. For a good 11 years, I've been involved in ministry within the church.

Those 11 years have been a gift.

I have been placed in a trusted position. A role that allows me to journey through life with others and share in their pivotal moments in life.

From marriages to births to baptisms, to deaths and everything else in between.

To sit with those with terminal illnesses and just be. To be on the end of the phone to the suicidal. To be a positive voice for those who need representation. To pick people up when they fall and continue to love them. To strengthen and encourage the failing. To bring…
