POETRY: THE “B” SIDE

I sat in a parked car
just across the street
I was looking at
the house
I was in deep
I knew the “B” sides
In the ‘60s
as a child
I had heard
of this house
It is still special to me
40 years too late
I sat there nevertheless
Paul had been there
with his friends
So had Florence
and her friends,
and Robinson, and
Gordy, and Wonder, and
Gaye, and Michael
and his brothers
I sat in my car
facing the house
now an aged musician
wanting to cry
