Aubrey’s suggestion couldn’t come at a better time
It’s no kidding that times are hard right now. Everything is so much more expensive and if it carries on this way then I’ll have no choice but to move back to my crappy hometown and be surrounded by soulless crack-heads. There’s a reason I ran out of there the first opportunity I had, and I really don’t want to go back.
I can’t.
Aubrey Graham, whose children I nanny for full-time, is standing in the kitchen with her briefcase open in front of her on the counter.
Her husband Neil will be home soon and I’ll then be free to go. Sometimes I think she’s afraid of being solely responsible for her children. Not that I’m complaining, she always pays the extra hours owed.
“Hey, do you need anything else done last minute before I’m finished?” Aubrey’s absorbed in the paperwork she’s skimming over. Each night is the same, she always brings some home to finalize.
I swear sometimes she’s a robot — her mind never stops.
