Only True Political Theorists Can Spot the Real Power

America was just Unfollowed

America didn’t fall with a bang — it unsubscribed quietly, like a bored intern on a company Zoom call. No parades, no coups. Just… more potholes, longer Starbucks lines, and oat milk shortages that felt deeply personal. At 7:00 a.m., the Capitol still raised its flag. At 7:01, a TikToker declared war on gendered Tupperware.

Power did not vanish. It migrated.

It slipped from the columns of government to the columns of Substack, from elected officials to unelected influencers, from generals to credentialed podcasters. Washington issued laws. TikTok issued norms. One held the sword. The other had the camera. Guess which one won.

Power is theater. Always has been. It always will be.

Is politics about policies? Adorable. It’s about vibes. Whether our press conference lighting makes us look like Moses or someone’s stepdad explaining crypto. Legislation doesn’t matter unless it can be summarized in a four-second meme featuring a raccoon and lo-fi beats.
The real question isn’t “What’s our platform?” It’s “How do we look in natural light?”
