AskFeebs: 0Chain Address — May 14, 2020
Each week, hosts an AMA with 0Chain’s Operations Director, Derick Fiebiger, to address questions from the community. Without further delay, let’s dive into this weeks episode:
Greeting
- Welcome to AskFeebs — a weekly address where your questions on crypto and 0Chain are answered. I’m Derick Fiebiger, Director of Operations for 0Chain, and I thank you for joining me. Let’s hop into things.
0Chain Highlights
- This week’s episode of The 0Chain Minute highlights MainNet features, technical standpoints, MSB options, whiteglove options, and marketing information.
- 0Chain is an ambitious blockchain project focusing on decentralizing data storage and tokenizing the value of that asset through their ZCN token. The focus of this channel is to focus on briefing the community on 0Chain updates and providing insightful answers to community questions.
- Wanting answers to your questions on the next episode of AskFeebs? You can message Chad, our Community Manager, via or submit them via from our weekly thread. One disclaimer on questions, we want questions that cannot be easily found on Telegram, etc. These will be questions that require some more in-depth answers from the team.
Questions & Answers
Question 1: Is s3 still a feature? It wasn’t on roadmap. Also what’s the status of CDN? Is that still a planned feature — Chris K
- S3 is integrated — we’ll announce shortly after some more testing.
- As for CDN, which is generally a use case that entrepreneurs can leverage our platform, is not currently part of our offering.
Question 2: A bit technical, but how will Enterprises connect to the private chain ex. private connection via gateway endpoint? — SensibleYapper
- On the high level for how Enterprises will integrate into 0Chain, they will navigate through Oracle marketplace which will guide their integration. More specifically, they will run a private chain, exactly like mainnet but will have a login, etc. The deployment is a click and deploy, all automated. We will announce this shortly and you can try it out.
Question 3: Amazon S3 charges per feature for storage, retrieving data per GB, transfer acceleration (upload speed) Can MSBs have similar “tiers”, once features exist? — SensibleYapper
- Yes, at mainnet and also betanet (since beta will showcase all of the features you’ll see on main net 1.0), you can deploy multiple blobbers with different price structures and challenge completion times. For more clarity on this you can refer to the storage document
Question 4: Lastly, say I uploaded a file, and later I made updates to my file, and upload again. Do I have 2 versions now, or an overwrite? — SensibleYapper
- We have not introduced versions, so an update to a file is an overwrite.
Question 5: If we can still get the white glove miner/sharder/blobber option as some members of the community have? And if yes, what is the price? I would really like to take the opportunity if these still. Thank you — BojoSR
- For context, last year we released a Miner Brochure highlighting the key components needed to run a rig on the platform. You can run a miner, sharder, blobber, or all of the above, and we can give you a list of everything you need in order to do so OR we can build and deploy the rig for you. In the latter scenario all you’d need to do is pay the cost, without having to do much else — we call this a whiteglove service.
- The answer to whether we still offer that service is: The whiteglove is pending. Our bandwidth is completely focused on getting you guys a main net, and thus our focus is on development.
- Saswata says you can contact KingStar and they can build and ship directly to you. Find a datacenter near your location such as Hurricane Electric which is cheap. Then just turn on and deploy our code and run it. There’s comprehensive information for components on the rigs in the located on , and we’re always able to give recommendations in telegram for any specific questions.
Question 6: Why did 0chain not announce AWS, Oracle, Coresite, Eth integration on sites like CoinDesk, CoinTelegraph, ICOdrops? It helps raise awareness — khoamap
- So I like this question because it can go down an interesting direction. In 2018 I was managing seven figures worth of crypto investments, and it lent a lot of new insights into the space. I’m going to close this episode out with a tangent on one of those insights — but before doing so I’m going to give a quick answer to this question: it’s not that easy to get articles platforms like CoinDesk and CoinTelegraph without paying a lot of money or knowing the right people. There is a large network of interconnected people, companies, and money that seems to control/manage the majority of the publications.
Feebs: If you have more questions, let me know. That’s it for today, and I will see you guys next week!
